Abstract: |

Addition of acid phosphatase to the conventional Papanicolaou staining increases sensitivity of the Pap test for detection of cervical dysplasia which may lead to cervical cancer. CAP-PAP test is a double-staining procedure providing, on the same slide, the cervical cell morphology (as with the Pap test), and a new marker (CAP). In previous studies, CAP was found to increase proportionally to the probability for development of the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Currently, the CAP-PAP test is available for research purposes only. |
