  Abstract:
Elevation of the serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) level is one of the most important indicators for the pathology of the prostate. The objective of this study was to determine the role of prostate specific antigen used together with transrectal ultrasound in establishing the extensity of the tumor invasion. Patients were divided into three groups (according to the PSA level ) and then examined with transrectal ultrasound. The results confirmed the accuracy of these two diagnostic methods used as complementary examinations in a clinical practice.
